Round the World in 52 Books

My starting point for the trip, just a few miles from my home.
The book is based on the real town of Knutsford, in which can be seen many of the houses and places referred to in the book.
The book bears little resemblance to the BBC TV series as the BBC used characters and stories from several of Gaskell's books not just the Cranford novel. There's a reason they did that - Cranford lacks plot, lacks characterization and lacks depth. I only finished it because of the challenge, otherwise I would have given up after about 20 pages and deleted it from my smartphone.
Hope my other choices prove to be more interesting or this is going to be a very dull year.
